Skills Third Sector

Skills - Third Sector is entering into the second phase of its consultation into an apprenticeship framework for voluntary sector organisations. The voluntary sector framework will set out the skills and knowledge that apprentices who want to learn the ropes of roles that are found mainly in voluntary organisations need to learn and know during their apprenticeship. The voluntary sector apprenticeship framework is being developed by Skills - Third Sector and other voluntary sector employers, representatives from the four nations and Sector Skills Councils that have voluntary sector organsiations within their remit.

The first phase consisted of:

  • An online survey
  • Two focus groups of people who work in and manage charities and social enterprises
  • A focus group of young people who are potential third sector apprentices
  • A focus group of volunteers

They will be publishing the report on the first phase of the consultation shortly together with information about what the next steps in developing a voluntary sector apprenticeship framework - details available from their website.
