Group Training Association

Group Training Association

Fair Train is the Group Training Association (GTA) for the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS).  In this role Fair Train promotes workforce development and champions all forms of high quality work experience including traditional informal placements, vocational training, volunteering (where it is specifically aimed at developing employability skills) internships, Traineeships and Apprenticeships

As a GTA, Fair Train represents the views of, shares best practice with, and supports the growth of voluntary and community sector organisations that are looking to embrace any form of high quality work experience as part of their work.  Fair Train is the leading independent VCS deliverer of accreditation, CPD, training and professional development relating to all forms of work experience, showcasing best practice and driving up quality across the sector.

Through its ownership of the national Work Experience Quality Standard accreditation and coordination of national Work Experience Week, Fair Train is uniquely positioned to draw on best practice from its partners in the public and private sectors, disseminating this information to benefit its VCS network.  By working in this way across all sectors, Fair Train provides a unique perspective to benefit the voluntary and community sector in a way which other membership bodies do not.  Its facilitation ensures that high quality work experience benefits the individual learner, the learning provider organising the placement, and the employer hosting it. As the GTA, Fair Train acts as the national, independent voice of the sector for this work, undertaking advocacy at government and strategic levels, and championing high quality work experience in order to change policy and practice.

Fair Train is part of the Group Training Association network coordinated by GTA England. There are over 40 GTA’s throughout the UK across a diverse range of sectors covering everything from aerospace engineering and manufacturing to maritime industries.  The network supports over 15,000 employers providing high quality training, support, information advice and guidance which results in success rates that exceed national averages.
