Why do you employ apprentices?

To support young people into sustainable employment and lifelong learning.

How do apprentices benefit your organisation?

Apprenticeships provide us with balance as the majority of our staff are forty plus. Apprentices gives us a better insight on the views of young people who have a very different perspective on life and also how to deal with issues, which I find refreshing. I am constantly trying to work out why my apprentice does things the way she does and to be honest she could teach me a lesson or two on her organisational skills.

What’s the best advice you can pass to on

Don’t treat them with Kid gloves, give them responsibility they want to be challenged but also give them time to think it through for themselves. Don’t think they know how to do the basics and if they don’t understand they won’t ask so re affirm what you’ve said or confirm in writing.
