West Herts College building relationships and opportunities in construction and engineering

In a demonstration of how well Gold level Work Experience Quality Standard West Herts College builds and maintains relationships in all areas of its community, three groups of its students from Construction and Engineering courses recently visited the Kier and Jarvis construction site for Watford Riverwell. Watford Riverwell is the largest mixed-use regeneration project in Watford and will deliver new homes, shops, community facilities and open spaces.

Careers and Enterprise Company to launch Digital Careers Day and is looking for hosts

The Careers and Enterprise Company is looking for hosts to deliver sessions to young people as part of its new Digital Careers Day initiative on Thursday 20th June 2019 which is contributing to the Lord Mayor of London’s ‘Tomorrow’s Cities Today’ mayoral initiative - designed to connect young people and employers.

KMF hold Robot Wars style competition to promote STEM subjects

This year, KMF is working with previous Robot Wars champions and production crew members to help inspire the next generation of technology-led engineers. Robot Rivalry, the seventh annual Young Engineer of the Year competition will challenge year 10 students from 16 Stoke & Staffordshire high schools to design, build and battle real-life robots, with the Semi-final battle hosted by previous 'The Gadget Show' host Jason Bradbury.

Blackpool Council's Chance2Shine shines brightly as it launches

new ethical recruitment agency

Blackpool Council’s award-winning work placement programme, Chance2Shine, launched its new ethical recruitment agency, Chance2Shine Recruitment last month. It will facilitate employers to offer people temporary paid work, with profits from the recruitment agency being reinvested into ‘back-to-work’ schemes which will help local people move into work with local employers.

It’s been a great 2018 for Work Experience opportunities at West Herts College! 91% of its 4,500 students have participated in some form of work experience or social action project this year. West Herts continues to work with excellent employers and this year it has been made a ‘college partner’ of one of Fair Train’s other Gold Level accredited organisations, British Airways.

CAREERS EVENING: Monday 12th November; 5:30 – 8:00pm; Southmead Hospital

To avoid clashing with the region-wide 3-college careers fair “Ambitions 2018” taking place in Bristol in October, North Bristol NHS Trust decided to extend its Work Experience Month into November! It will be staging its next Careers Evening next Monday, building on the terrific success of the Trust’s last event of this type.
